Our family has been making wine on the finest southern slopes of Badacsony since the 1840s. We still follow the same philosophy: spontaneous fermentation, expressing the grape variety and terroir, with as little intervention as possible.

Our vineyards, located on the best southern slopes of Badacsony, take full advantage of the mountain’s exceptional conditions: the interplay of the sun, Lake Balaton, and the basalt. The sun’s rays fall not only directly on the mountain but also indirectly via the surface of Lake Balaton. The dark basalt stores heat and continuously warms the air near the surface, which rises and “pushes” away rain clouds—resulting in even more sunshine during the summer months, which are crucial for grape ripening.
Our family is now in its fifth generation of winemaking in Badacsony. Over the past 180 years, not only the weather but also history has influenced each vintage. One thing has remained constant: the spirit of winemaking.
The Bezerédj family becomes one of Badacsony’s major vineyard owners. Through the marriage of István Békássy and Emma Bezerédj, the Békássy family arrives in Badacsony.
Following the phylloxera epidemic, István Békássy’s young vineyards are already regarded among the finest plantings in Badacsony.
